Smart scroll · 20-second cards

Swap the scroll for one smart card.

Open a social app and Brainswap shows you one 20-second card first: science, history, art, money and more. Read it, then decide what's next. Every card cites its source.

Illustration. The app is still in the works.

The idea

20 seconds.
One card is short enough to read before the feed loads your next video.
Every card cites its source.
Open textbooks, encyclopedias and original documents, named on the card.
Stays on your phone.
Your Screen Time data stays on your phone.

How it works

The same habit, a better first stop.

You still open the app. Brainswap puts one short card in front of the feed, and you choose what happens next.

  1. 01

    Pick the apps to swap

Choose the apps you open without thinking. On iPhone it uses a Shortcuts automation; on Android, a setting that only sees which app is open.

  2. 02

    Get one card first

A 20-second card on a topic you picked, with its source. Then read another one or go on to the app.

  3. 03

    See what stuck

A short quiz every Sunday shows the share of cards you remember, topic by topic.

Topics

Science, history, art, money and more.

Pick the topics you like. Economics covers several schools of thought, side by side, without picking one.

Sources

Every card cites its source.

Cards are drafted with AI assistance from open sources, checked against the source and reviewed by a person. Spot a mistake? Report it from the card.

Sunday quiz

Measure what you remember.

Ten quick questions from your week. You see the share you remembered and which topics you've covered.

Your week

Swaps, streaks and a weekly recap.

Count the times you swapped the scroll for a card, and share your weekly recap if you want to.

Questions

Is Brainswap available yet?
Not yet. We're building it now. Leave your email and we'll write to you once, when it's ready.
How does it know I opened an app?
On iPhone, you set up a Shortcuts automation for each app you pick. On Android, an accessibility setting that only reads which app is on screen, never what's inside it. Your Screen Time data stays on your phone.
Who writes the cards?
We draft them with AI assistance from open sources such as OpenStax textbooks, check every card against its source and have a person review them. Each card names its source, and you can report an error from the card.
Does it lock me out of apps?
No. You can always go on to the app. Brainswap puts one short card first, and you decide what's next.
How much will it cost?
Brainswap will be free to start, with Brainswap Pro for every app and topic: a free trial, then a yearly or monthly plan. No weekly plans. We'll publish the prices before launch.
Which languages and phones?
We're starting with English and Spanish, on iPhone and Android.
